Highland School District

The Highland School District will not be in session on Wednesday, January 15, 2025. Many secondary and rural roads within our district boundaries remain unsafe for bus travel, making it challenging to ensure the safety of our drivers and students. We understand that both teachers and students are eager to return to the classroom, but the safety of our school community remains our top priority. We are hopeful that road conditions will improve and that we can safely return to campus on Thursday, January 16. We will continue to monitor the situation closely and keep our families informed of any updates. Thank you for your understanding and support! Although road conditions have greatly improved from the recent winter weather, many secondary and rural roads in our district are still unsafe for bus travel. Therefore, the Highland School District will not be in session on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

We wanted to alert our families that you may see an increased law enforcement/emergency vehicle presence at some of our campuses tomorrow. Local emergency personnel and law enforcement officers are participating in Patriot Day activities across the district. As always, we appreciate those who serve and protect our students and staff daily!

23/24 Rebel Yearbooks are in! They will be distributed to campuses soon - please allow a few days for this process! A limited amount of yearbooks are still available at the high school. Student schedules are complete and may be picked up during the following dates and times. Mrs. Gotte, HMS Counselor, will be available during the following dates/times to review schedule choices for the 24/25 school year with students and families. Any changes that need to be made can be done at this time! Grades 5 & 7 July 23 11:00 - 5:00 Grades 6 & 8 July 25 11:00 - 5:00 - This is NOT mandatory! - There is another opportunity to receive and update your schedule before the start of school during Open House (more info to follow on the date/time of this event). - This is to pick up schedules and make changes ONLY. An opportunity to tour the school will be available during the open house.

It might just be the end of June, but we are planning ahead for the 24/25 school year! We would love to have our new kindergarteners on campus next week for a MEET & GREET! During this DROP-IN event, you can get to know your new teacher and meet some of your classmates! Tuesday, July 2 9:00 am - 11:00 am, at Cherokee Elementary School Not registered your student yet? No problem - you can register on-site!

Don't forget through June, our district food truck will be making rounds to feed kids! ALL children between 0 and 18 qualify for free meals through the Seamless Summer program.
