PATRIOT DAY | SEPTEMBER 11
Today, Highland School District joins our nation in remembering the lives lost on September 11, 2001, and honoring the first responders, service members, and everyday Americans who demonstrated incredible courage in the face of tragedy.
As we reflect on this day in our nation’s history, we are reminded of the strength found in unity, service, and compassion for one another.
We remember those we lost. We honor those who served. We will never forget.

Highland School District will not be in session on Friday, August 28, 2026.
We understand this is short notice and may require families to make unexpected arrangements. Many of our staff members will be attending services for Rhett Carter and supporting the Carter family during this difficult time.
Due to the number of employees who plan to attend, we would not have adequate substitute coverage to safely and effectively operate our schools tomorrow.
This missed school day will not need to be made up. Our district calendar includes additional instructional hours that allow us to account for this missed day without extending the school year.
We sincerely appreciate your understanding as we provide our staff the opportunity to support the Carter family, whose ties to Highland School District include both current and former employees.
**Highland Preschool will be open tomorrow - regular hours
